I'm gonna push ahead and give them the benefit of the doubt (even though my visit last Sat 10/5/19 was disappointing).  It has been several yrs since my friend and I ate there.  Last time we got a pasta dish (which I really don't remember about), this time we both got Italian subs.  Out of a 1-10 (with 10 being best, I would go no higher than a 6).  The subs were a little bit pricey and not nearly as good as I had imagined that they would be. The Cokes were $2.85 each and served in glasses barely bigger than a juice glass!  We arrived around mid afternoon, when it was slow.  It was really picking up when we were leaving.  I will try salads and pastas in the future (prob as a call in order).  In reading over other reviews, I agree with those that said this place has a wierd vibe.

This place has a weird vibe. I can't quite put my finger on it. The pizza was greasy and nothing special.  And it had a funny flavor.  I think this place lives off its name. Calzone was $11 and described as "huge" was cut up in little tiny pieces....

Service was pretty bad. Food was average at best. This place has a weird and unwelcoming vibe. I don't recommend this place at all.  If you're not a local or a regular you're treated in a negative manner.

We passed this place often as we visited Smithfield. Always curious and read the reviews. We are locals with very busy lives that are slowing down, and affording the time to search for that eatery we can call home.
We stopped by after church on Sunday and were one of the first customers for the day. The young, dark-haired, girl at the front seemed standoffish and rude towards my older daughter from the start, but luckily we got a different young lady as our server that was friendly and frequently checked up on drinks. She brought out bread that was warm and tasted freshly made. The salads were fresh and House Vinaigrette was pretty good. Salads could have used a bit more variety with the Iceberg lettuce, but it was good.
My wife and older daughter ordered Gnocchi with Bolognese sauce, my younger daughter got the Pepperoni Pizza, and I, the Chicken Alfredo.
The pizza was good. Not oily or salty. The crust was perfect. Both, my wife and daughter felt their meals were too salty. I tasted it and indeed it was far too salty. My Alfredo was very good. The sauce was definitely freshly made.
As a person that cooks, I felt this place has just become comfortable with their place and didn't see a need to be vigilant with quality control or to ensure their entire staff understands that one rude interaction may result in loss of new patrons.
The meal came to $72 for the entrees, 2 water's, and 2 Sweet Tea's. A bit high, but Overall, if it tightened up a bit, it would be worth it.

The restaurant is cute! I liked the checkered tablecloths. My all-time favorite Italian dish is chicken picatta. They only had veal (which I don't eat) so they let me sub chicken and it was really tasty! Their policy is just to charge you the same price, which I guess I understand even though 18 bucks is pricey for chicken lol. But anyway, it was delicious and worth it! The meal was amazing but the bread and salad fell flat. The salad is literally iceberg lettuce with a few onions and tomatoes. I ordered the house "Italian" dressing and it was like pouring straight olive oil on my salad. Overall impression: Large menu, friendly staff, tasty main dishes, need to work on bread and salad.
